Bougainvillea Flower Show: A Colourful Delight in Delhi

Delhi, the capital city of India, has been buzzing with cultural and artistic events lately. The recent G20 Summit held in Delhi brought together different nations and their rich cultures. In an effort to attract more tourists, the Delhi Tourism Department is now gearing up to organise its first three-day Bougainvillea Flower Show in the capital.
Flower shows have always been a popular event across India, and the Bougainvillea Flower Show is set to be a unique addition to this tradition. This flower show will showcase different varieties of Bougainvillea, a unique tropical flowering vine commonly found growing in the summers.

Date: 14 – 16 April 2023

Several departments, including the Delhi Development Authority, Central Public Works Department, NDMC, MCD, University of Delhi, Netaji Subhash University, and Delhi PWD, will be participating in the event.
Visitors can expect to see Bougainvillea varieties such as Barbara Karst, Raspberry Ice, Singapore White, San Diego Red, Golden Glow, and Thai Delight. The department has communicated that Bougainvillea has 20 species and 300 varieties, and it is specially used as Ayurvedic medicine for various ailments, including cough, asthma, and stomach diseases.
According to Geetika Sharma, General Manager of Delhi Tourism, the Bougainvillea Flower Show is a substantial step towards making Delhi a tourist destination. She also suggested covering rocky sites in the capital city with Bougainvillea flowers to improve its value as a tourist attraction.

In conclusion, the Bougainvillea Flower Show promises to be a unique and vibrant event showcasing the beauty of this tropical flowering vine. This event, along with other fairs and festivals organised by Delhi Tourism, will certainly contribute to making Delhi a popular tourist destination.
